Harold Hammer, has been a Consultant ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon in Glasgow for 32 years and is probably the most senior still working VR surgeons in the UK and is rightly considered to be a virtuoso of scleral buckling. Dr Hammer has started his career in Leeds.
Sadly he has notified us of the day when he is going to retire but we are delighted that he has agreed to produce this tutorial. You will find that there’s more that one way to perform buckling procedure but methodical way of teaching by Harry will set a solid foundation for your successful buckle.
One of many memorable acronyms he instilles in his fellows is “In my left shoe” for the order of muscles to sling and many more will be found in his lecture.
