Roxane Hillier, Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon, Newcastle.
Roxane completed her postgraduate ophthalmology training in Liverpool and the North West Deanery before spending three years doing sub-speciality fellowship training at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (UK) and St. Michael’s Hospital/University of Toronto (Canada).
Her primary area of research interest is retinal detachment surgery. She has co-authored 29 papers in the peer-reviewed literature to date.
Roxane has been a Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the Newcastle Eye Centre for the past 7 years, and is the present BEAVRS Membership and Communications Secretary.
Pneumatic retinopexy is minimally invasive and promises to deliver better outcomes compared to standard vitrectomy and gas procedures for selected cases of RRD as shown in the PIVOT RCT. This course will take you through case selection and step by step procedure as used in the PIVOT study protocol.
