Dear Delegates,
We wish you a very warm welcome to Southampton for BEAVRS 2016.
We are delighted to welcome you to Southampton, the European cruise capital and home of the Spitfire. Southampton is a busy, container port on the South Coast of the UK, with close links to the University and aeronautical industry. It offers many cultural venues from museums, music venues and art galleries, to award winning parks and the general hustle and bustle of a diverse city with fantastic shopping facilities.
Our venue this year is the Grand Harbour Hotel, situated in the center of Southampton, close to the sea front, ferries, marinas and shopping centres. We are planning a very interactive meeting with short presentations and lots of discussion. Our guest speaker is Prof Elias Reichel, from the New England Eye Centre, Boston USA. Elias has worked on OCT imaging with the team from MIT for the last 20 years. He will be speaking on recent developments in Ultrahigh Resolution OCT of Macular Disorders: From Vitreous to Choriocapillaris.
The rest of the conference is full of interesting presentations. We have two video sessions one on ‘Surgical pearls complications and their management’, the other on ‘new equipment / trauma’, there are sessions on choroidal Tumour’s and ocular inflammation, macular surgery, and paediatric VR surgery.
We would like to thank all who have submitted such interesting abstracts to the meeting, and are only sorry that we could not accept them all. We would also like to thank all who contributed to the organisation of the meeting, particularly Lisa Flanagan who has worked so hard on our behalf.
We look forward to seeing you in Southampton.
Best wishes,
Thomas Papathomas, Stephen Lash and Richard Newsom
